Adrian and Colin
Local to the Sheffield area they may be found in
folk clubs, concerts or just busking. Catch them at our Friday
evening concert.

Bill Caddick
There is n`t enough room here
to document everything Bill has done in the world of English folk
music. He has written many songs; John `O Dreams, Unicorns, The
Cloud Factory that have been recorded by prominent performers and
sung in clubs by floorsingers who respect their quality. He has,
over the years, been part of folk-rock bands, a ceilidh band and has
performed in and written music for various stage productions.He
appears on Saturday, both afternoon and evening. Do n`t miss

Coleby Plough Jag The Plough
Jag is a form of mummers play traditionally acted by ploughmen in
Lincolnshire.Revived 30+ years ago and now performed in a number of
venues between Gainsborough and the Humber bank annually on a
Saturday in early January. Special performances are being staged at
Doncaster in the Market Place and some of the adjacent pubs on
Saturday morning.

Fyrish Dave
Cowan and Marjorie Paterson form a fine duo who have been steadily
making a name for themselves locally and in England more widely on
the festival circuit since moving to Holmfirth from their native
Scotland. Marjorie plays strings(Cello and fiddle)and sings
sometimes whilst Dave supplies guitar and most vocals. They have a
wide repertoire of folk songs from all over the world.(It says

Hissyfit Hissyfit comprises Linda Kelly and Hazel
Richings. Originally from the midlands and Scotland respectively
they are now firmly rooted in Beverley. Their speciality is harmony
which you will be able to enjoy on Saturday afternoon at the
Ukrainian Club. No doubt they will include some of the fine songs

His Worship and the Pig A
unique name for a unique duo, Dave Boulton and Jeff Parton form this
act. Their name is derived from a specific event in Staffordshire.

They have written many very humorous songs but also some of a more
reflective nature and some themed shows. See them at Doncaster both
afternoon and evening on Saturday and enjoy.

Little Sister A
lively, young,all-girl group from Birmingham. Little Sister perform
in a number of traditional styles from Irish to Kletzmer and several
in between,effectively showcasing their collective capabilities on a

The Duncan McFarlane
Band Duncan plays solo accoustic, with his
accoustic band and with his electric band. The latter is what you
will enjoy as a resounding finale to our saturday evening concert.
They play English folk; jigs, reels and songs with a solid

Musicians Orlyk Orlyk is the
longest established Ukrainian Folk Dance Ensemble in the United
Kingdom. The ensemble performs a unique mix of sound and
movements, combining energetic dancing, spirited singing and
vibrant music which reflects the soul and heart of the
Ukrainian people. The Musicians Orlyk are those who provide the
music for this unique traditional Ukrainian dance ensemble. It is
therefore quite fitting that they will be here in the Doncaster
Ukrainian Club on Saturday afternoon to let us appreciate their
enviable talents.

Paul Pearson As a folk club
performer Paul is well known in the Sheffield area and beyond. He
has a very varied repertoire delivered with passion and an obvious
love of his art. The songs of Ron Trueman-Border, Paul Jones and Tom
Pacheco frequently surface in Paul`s set. He joins us at the Mason`s
Arms on Sunday atternoon.

Pierrot The
music for the ceilidh on Friday evening will be provided by Pierrot.
They are a local band, based on the Lincolnshire-Yorkshire border
who play a wide range of instruments in styles varying from the
traditional English to French dance tunes. We are sure you will be

Rattlejag Morris Rattlejag
are based just down the road in Retford. They have worked hard and
researched the traditional dances of Nottinghamshire, East Yorkshire
and Lincolnshire and make that the base for their dance style. Their
dances include brooms, bacca pipes and swords making some quite

Ann
Smith Ann performs as part of the Friday evening concert,
she is Sheffield born and bred and has been involved in her local
music scene for many years. Often to be seen at the Rivelin club or
the Royal at Dungworth. She plays a wide range of music but admits
to being influenced by the female singers of the 60ssuch as Joan
Baez.

Stitherum Mike and Sue Dewsbury have been making
music together for over 30 years and performing publicly for almost
half of that time. Their music is about as diverse as the folk scene
itself as will no doubt be illustrated by their performance at our

Tim and
Julie Traditional and contemporary folk songs, pure vocals
and accomplished accompaniments on guitar and cello.

Trio
Threlfall :-comprises sisters Jane and Amanda Threlfall
and accompanist Roger Edwards. The sisters blend perfectly together
in their interpretation of English folk songs whilst Roger`s
concertina provides a perfectly balanced level of instrumental
backing. They have developed much deserved respect across the
English folk scene. We are sure you will enjoy their

Valduna Valduna will perform the rousing finale to
our Friday evening concert. They are based in Newark(Notts)and
specialise in gypsy music from eastern Europe and klezmer
styles.

Welsh
Geoff:- ploughs an improbable furrow in and around
Sheffield with his songs of motorcycles, Wales, aliens, Vikings,
Celtic saints, giant worms and blues-playing dogs. He's been at this
a while, spawning two CDs and contributions to local collections.
The Chesterfield Star described his guitar playing as 'chunky', and
he also has a banjo.
